GREAT TRIPS and GRAND TOURS by DeBOLT

DeBolt has been providing transportation since the present owner’s namesake needed a means to deliver the hay, feed, and grain from his warehouse to his customers in 1895. From those horse and wagon days, DeBolt Unlimited Travel has progressed through gasoline-powered wagons, trucks, moving vans, tractor-trailers, transit busses, and deluxe parlor coaches to supersonic aircraft.

Our philosophy at DeBolt Unlimited Travel has been to provide our customers with the best transportation service possible in a way of which we can be most proud. In spite of wars, economic disasters, and times of unprecedented social upheaval, that tradition of transportation excellence continues today.

In the Galaxy of Tour Operators, DeBOLT shines Brighter than all the others.

Trips Worth Talking About!

"Unstoppable"

2009 “Unstoppable” starring Denzel Washington and Chris Pine filmed in Ohio, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania. Producers use DeBolt to coordinate transportation for cast and crew to locations of rail lines spread out over hundreds of miles.

As 20th Century Fox prepared to film Unstoppable, they recognized the need for a transportation operation which could roll with the vagaries and challenges of filming locations in three states covering thousands of square miles.  They knew they could count on DeBolt to do the job of transporting cast and crew wherever and whenever they needed to be.  DeBolt had served many film productions in the past such as Oscar-winners The Deer Hunter and Silence of the Lambs.  Most of the filming of Unstoppable took place outdoors away from the Sound Stage in Pittsburgh.  Such filming requires the ability to respond to last-minute changes in production plans.  Unstoppable producers knew DeBolt could handle constant adjustments which often would occur just hours before sunrise.  DeBolt could be called upon at any time with any request and it would be met.  That 24/7 responsiveness is another reason why not just those in Hollywood, but customers from around the world over the past 128 years have chosen DeBolt as their travel partner.

G8 Summit

2009 The White House Press Office chooses DeBolt to provide transportation for the G-20 Summit.

The situation was dire.  The G8 Summit of world leaders was going to be hosted by the United States in Downtown Chicago.  But protesters were threatening massive demonstrations against the attendees: the leaders of Canada, China, France, Italy, Japan, Russia, the United Kingdom, and the United States.  At the last minute The White House made the decision to shift the location of the Summit to the security of Camp David atop Catoctin Mountain in Maryland.  The problem?  Given the limited accommodations at Camp David, assistants, advisors, staff, and the media would have to be housed on the Valley floor and transported up the mountain.  The service had to operate 24 hours a day to accommodate those countries 12 hours ahead of the US.  The weekend was the busiest charter bus weekend of the year when buses had been reserved months before.  The solution?  Call DeBolt in Homestead, PA.  On the phone a frantic Foreign Service Officer pleaded, “You’re the only one who will help us.”  DeBolt sprang into action and called upon its unequaled network of transportation providers created over many decades.  The Company President had served as the Chairman of the American Bus Association’s Education and Marketplace Committees.  Once the Summit opened, the service operated flawlessly and DeBOLT became “The Official Transportation Operator of the G8 Summit”

One journalist half-jokingly commented to a driver, “You guys saved the world economic order.”  Sure, why not?  All in a day’s work for DeBolt.

The 2017 Total Eclipse

2017 DeBolt hosts travelers from all over the United States at a private viewing event for the Total Solar Eclipse in “Eclipseville, USA” – Hopkinsville, KY.

The 2017 total Eclipse of the Sun presented a unique challenge to DeBolt Tour Planners.  For one of the few times in recorded history, the path of totality stretched across the width of the United States from Coast to Coast.  First contact – Oregon Coast.  Last contact – Atlantic Coast in South Carolina.  But where would be the absolute BEST place in the USA to see it?  Where would totality be the longest and what location had the best chance of crystal clear skies?  So began a nationwide search from the DeBolt offices in Homestead, Pennsylvania.  Astronomers, meteorologists, maps, charts, and volumes of weather history were all consulted.  DeBolt even met with the head of NASA’s meteorological team in Washington, DC.  The conclusion: Hopkinsville, Kentucky – Eclipseville, USA.  After word of the Tour hit the social media, the Tour sold out in three days.  Eclipse chasers from all over the country joined DeBolt for this celestial event on a private field outside the local high school.  All possible due to diligence, creativity, and resourcefulness of YOUR team at DeBolt.
